PIO Card Scheme

PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) Card Scheme is in operation since 15th September, 2002. The Government of India for the convenience of persons of Indian origin has launched the 'PIO Card' scheme, aimed at making the travel to India, simpler and easier.

Foreigners Regional Registration Officers (FRRO)

All foreigners (including foreigners of Indian origin) visiting India on long term (more than 180 days) Student Visa, Medical Visa, Research Visa and Employment Visa are required to get themselves registered with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO)/ Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) concerned having jurisdiction over the place where the foreigner intends to stay, within 14 days of arrival. However, Pakistan nationals are required to register within 24 hours of their arrival. All Afghan nationals are required to register with the FRRO/FRO concerned within 14 days of arrival except those Afghan nationals who enter India on a visa valid for 30 days or less provided the Afghan national concerned gives his/her local address in India to the Indian Mission/FRRO/FRO.

Non Residents Indian (NRI

A non-resident Indian (NRI) is a citizen of India who holds an Indian passport and has temporarily emigrated to another country for six months or more for work, residence or any other purpose.

Apostille or attested by CPV Division, MEA India

Attestation

All original documents requiring attestation or Apostille should be first authenticated by the designated Authority/ Department in the State from where the document has been issued. In case of personal documents, Home Department/General Administration Department are the designated authorities. In case of educational documents, the documents should first be authenticated by the Education Department of the concerned State Government/Union Territory. The details of the Regional Authentication Centre (RACs) in the States/UTs from where the documents should first be authenticated are given below. The Ministry of External Affairs attests the documents on the basis of the signature of the designated signing authorities of the State Government/Union Territory/Chambers of Commerce; hence it does not take responsibility of the contents of the documents.

Apostille

Apostille is legalizing the document by ministry of external affairs / foreign affairs of Melbourne convention countries member purposely to validate the same document in country which is member of Melbourne convention after this there is no requirement to get further attestation from the particular countries embassy.

PIO Card to Dutch nationals of Suriname Origin

As per existing rules, PIO Card to Dutch nationals of Suriname Origin up to fourth generation whose forefathers came from India in 19th century will be granted.

OCI Visa Sticker

OCI Card holders travelling to India are required to carry their Passport containing the U Visa sticker as well as the OCI Card while travelling to India, in order to avoid problems at Immigration check points in India.

Domicile Certificate

Domicile certificate is a certificate given to a person for residing in that particular city which shows his proof as a resident of that country. There are two types of Domicile Certificate:-
